Mission Task Force Minutes

January 14, 2010

Attended: Modesta Pellot, Diocesan Council; Bill Locke+; Scott Nicholson, Bishop’s Appointment; David Isherwood, East Bay Deanery; Pam Mott+, Aquidneck Deanery; Jennifer Pedrick+, Standing Committee; Fran Gammell-Roach, Standing Committee; Jim Segovis, Central Deanery; Susan Carpenter+, Diocesan Council; Susan Wright, West Bay Deanery
Absent: Brian Ellers, Bishop’s Appointment; Buck Close, Blackstone Deanery

The meeting opened at 7 pm with Worship in the Chapel. This was followed by introductions including what gifts each person brings to the group and her/his motivation for agreeing to this ministry.

Next we discussed roles and responsibilities. Jennifer+ will be Chair of the task force, Bill+ will be Chaplain, Susan W will be Secretary, and Brian will be Blogger. We agreed that minutes would be sent out to the members of the Task Force ASAP after each meeting. Members will review the minutes and at least 6 members must approve them prior to publishing them online. Once approved a copy will be sent to the Bishop, then to Brian for the Blog. A request was made to all members of the Task Force that they respond to emails, at minimum by acknowledging receipt. We also agreed to carry on our work between meetings by email updates to one another.

We discussed membership and noted that we still need someone to represent the Narragansett Deanery. Fran agreed to speak to her rector to explore possibilities to fill this position. Modesta will also be in touch with us to provide Buck Close’s contact information and schedule.

Next we discussed purpose, goals and parameters of our task.
We reviewed the Resolution itself. We identified three tasks, two of which require attention between now and our next meeting and divided up the work.:
1. Develop a process for listening to and engaging clergy and laity Susan C+, David, Pam+ and Modesta
2. Develop goals and a timeline Jim, Jennifer+ and Susan W
3. Evaluate current mission priorities and outcomes.

Bill Locke was also going to get in touch with the diocese to see if there is any way we might use the convocation venue as an opportunity to connect with people.

Next meeting is 2/11/10 at 7 pm at St. Paul’s, Pawtucket.

The meeting closed with prayer at 9 pm.
